Gibson Electric Guitars: Used Guitars And Cheap Gibson Guitar Parts

Any true rocker will tell you that a band is only worth the sound of its lead guitar. While there is room for debate on what sound is the best, there is little argument that Gibson electric guitars are the best on the market. Gibson electric guitars have the benefit of superior sound engineering, history, and quality craftsmanship that make Gibson the brand that every guitarist desires. Of course, they're also extremely expensive, which means that any potential buyers better either do their research or come up with a lot of money for a quality instrument.

Gibson was founded in 1902 by mandolin maker Orville Gibson as a means to sell his popular instruments. In 1936, Gibson released its first electric guitar. Gibson electric guitars are widely held to be the industry standard for music. Artists like Eric Clapton, Slash, Jimmy Page, and Angus Young all prefer performing with Gibson electric guitars. The most popular model, and the one favored by Clapton, is the classic Gibson Les Paul which retails for $2,100.

Since Gibson electric guitars are a popular brand around the world and are incredibly durable, the market for used Gibson guitars is quite a large one. In fact, Gibson electric guitars withstand the test of time so well one can actually find a workable model of the first run of the Gibson ESs. Classic guitars like these fetch thousands or tens of thousands of dollars at auction. The problem with finding used Gibson guitars isn't finding them, but the fact that if they're well taken care of, Gibson electric guitars rarely lose much of their value. Unless buyers can find a good guitar from a friend or something priced under $1,000, it is almost as good just to buy a new guitar.

As such, finding cheap Gibson guitars is neigh unto impossible. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. One can find Gibson electric guitars for around $500 on the Internet, but there is a high likelihood that something is seriously wrong with it. Though if a person repairs it himself or herself, Gibson guitar parts are fairly inexpensive. Gibson guitar parts like knobs are only a few dollars and replacing exterior plates only runs about $100.

A better option for those looking for cheap Gibson guitars might even be to eschew the Gibson electric guitars brand and find a more inexpensive knockoff like the Godin, which retails new for $500. Sure, it's missing the classic Gibson name and engineering, but those things cost a premium. For those unwilling or unable to pay that premium, a guitar from a more value priced brand is probably a better option, and the Godin LG is constructed comparably to the Gibson electric guitars.

Still, there is nothing quite like the sound and feel of Gibson electric guitars. Jam bands and garage rockers can probably get away with using any rock guitar, and ultimately they will all sound fine in the hands of a skilled player. But rock enthusiasts and musicians will say that none of them play quite like Gibson electric guitars. They may cost a premium, and many are likely several thousand dollars out of any normal musician's price range, but the quality and care are tangible. For a true rock experience, there is nothing quite like the sound of Gibson electric guitars .
