Fender Jaguar Guitar: American Vintage And Jaguar HH Guitars

Published: May 14, 2007

Fender guitars have gone hand in hand with American music since 1946. Some would argue that the Fender guitar was the catalyst for the invention of rock and roll. And although it cannot be said that rock and roll would not have happened if it weren't for the innovative designs of Fender guitars, it can be said that some of the world's greatest and best known guitarists have chosen Fender guitars. Fender guitars like the Stratocaster, Telecaster, and Jazzmaster are as famous as the guitar players that have played them. Buddy Holly, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Geddy Lee, and Keith Richards have slung Fender guitars over their shoulders.

The Fender Jaguar guitar was a very popular guitar through much of the Golden Age of Rock and Roll, from 1962 through 1975. But despite the popularity of the  Jaguar, other Fender models like the Stratocaster and Telecaster would outsell the Jaguar. As a result, the Jaguar  would spend a quarter century on the guitar stand before being resurrected in 1999 with the launch of Fender's American Vintage Series of guitars. The rebirth of the Fender Jaguar Guitar would feature the American Vintage Fender Jaguar Guitar and special edition releases of the Jaguar Baritone Special HH and the Jaguar HH. Both capture the aesthetic beauty of the original Fender Jaguar Guitar along with unique features.

The American Vintage '62 Jaguar (MSRP 1299.99) features an Alder body, Maple neck, and Rosewood fingerboard. The American Vintage Fender Jaguar guitar features 22 vintage style frets and specially redesigned American Jaguar single-coil pickups at the neck and bridge. The American Vintage '62 Fender Jaguar guitar also includes Fender/ Gotoh vintage style tuning machine heads and a vintage style floating tremolo with a tremolo lock button. Along with the classic 3-color sunburst, the American Vintage Fender Jaguar guitar is available in Olympic White, black, Ocean Turquoise, Surf Green, and Ice Blue Metallic.

Another addition to the Fender Jaguar guitar line is the Jaguar HH (MSRP $899.99). The Jaguar HH features the same looks of the American Vintage 62 Fender Jaguar guitar, but cast in black and chrome highlights and packed with upgrades and special features. Among the upgrades and special features included with the Jaguar HH are a vintage fashioned Adjusto-Matic bridge with an anchored tailpiece and two specially designed MIJ Dragster Humbucking pickups at the neck and bridge. The Jaguar HH, cast in an Alder body with a Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard, is equipped with Fender/ Gotoh designed tuning machine heads and 22 vintage frets.

Whether you long to run your fingers over the fingerboard of a Jaguar HH or the American Vintage '62, both offerings from the Fender Jaguar guitar catalog offer exquisite performance and a stellar look. Although the Fender Jaguar guitar has always played rhythm to the Stratocaster, Telecaster and Jazzmaster's lead, the re-released Fender Jaguar guitar as the Jaguar HH and the American Vintage '62 will surely give guitar players the opportunity to bring the Fender Jaguar guitar out of the shadows.
